Extremely hard and fine-grained, this stone performs best as a mid-finishing stone. When used with a diamond plate or Nagura, it produces an exceptionally smooth and consistent sharpening surface.
Despite its hardness, the resulting finish on the blade tends to have a soft, glowing quality—reminiscent of hotarubi (firefly light), gently shimmering in a subdued glow.
