Iyomeito is a natural whetstone with a history of 1,300 years as Yoshu Iyoto.
At that time, Shirato (called Hakuhoshi at the time) was considered the highest quality whetstone among Iyo stones, and as its name suggests, it was a pure white whetstone. Iyo stones had been used as a pottery stone, a raw material for ceramics, for about 250 years.
As a pottery stone, pure white stone is called first grade.
As a natural medium-sized whetstone, most of them are fine, and Iyomeito tends to be a little harder.
White pottery stone is classified into pure white and pale white.
The latter is called "ao."
Ao is considered unsuitable as pottery stone because it is often hard.
Many of these whetstones are very fine, so it is no wonder they are considered to be of the highest quality.
However, since the mining site moved, Iyomei stones have become finer than white stones.
It's hard to call it the most detailed.
Also, when the paleness known as "ao" stands out,
Sometimes a grayish pattern appears, and it is called a cloudburst.
